Residential Electric Rates

MGE takes seriously our responsibility to provide safe, reliable energy at reasonable rates. We work hard to control our costs. In 2021, MGE worked with intervening parties to file a rate settlement agreement to resolve all issues in MGE's rate case. The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin reviewed and approved the settlement agreement, setting our electric and gas rates. Effective Jan. 1, 2022, electric rates for residential customers increased 7.6%.

Electric costs for 2022 include construction costs associated with the Badger Hollow Solar Farm, which came online in late 2021; the end of a one-time deferred tax credit to customers as a result of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act; and technology improvements including a new customer information system. Costs were updated from MGE's initial application to address increased fuel prices.
