Scammers posing as MGE representatives have recently targeted customers by phone in an attempt to collect immediate payment. Scammers claim accounts are past due, and threaten disconnection if payment isn’t received within the hour. Customers have reported scammers using sophisticated methods such as manipulating the caller ID so calls appear to be from MGE or claiming to know recent bill amounts.

THIS IS NOT MGE. If you receive a call from someone demanding immediate payment, threatening imminent disconnection, or asking for personal information, please hang up and call MGE at (608) 252-7222.
