Where can I pay my bill in person?

You can make your bill payments at MGE's Madison drop box or at several retail outlets.

Where can I pay my bill online?

You can view and pay your MGE bill online by signing into My Account. Plus, save time and paper by choosing the Paperless Billing option in My Account to receive your bill notification in your email!

Can I use my debit card/credit card?

Yes, online in My Account or by phone. To pay by phone, call 1-877-253-0151 and provide:

  • Your MGE account number.
  • The amount you want to pay.
  • The method of payment along with the zip code of the mailing address for your credit/debit card.

Did you receive my payment?

Check payment status 24/7 online:

Sign in to My Account if you have an online account.
Register if you are new.

Or by phone: (608) 252-7080. 

Call MGE's automated system at (608) 252-4700, and press 1. You'll need your MGE account number and Personal Identification Number (PIN).

If those two options don't work for you, call MGE's Customer Service Department at (608) 252-7222, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please have your PIN available when calling.


Bill Questions

Why is my bill so high?

Many factors can affect your bill:

  • More days in the billing cycle.
  • Colder weather (i.e., more heating use).
  • Warmer weather (i.e., air-conditioning).
  • More energy use.

Lifestyle, square footage, age of the home/apartment, and number of people affect your energy use and corresponding cost.

Check your account balance and current charges online 24/7:

Sign in to My Account if you have an online account.
Register if you are new.

What if my MGE account has been sent to a collection agency?

Please call State Collection Service, Inc., at (608) 661-3000 or toll-free at 1-800-477-7474, then press Option 1 and then Option 2. You may also access their website.
