Madison-area Lakes Make an Impact
What’s the estimated impact of our lakes on the Greater Madison economy every year? $5 million? $10 million? Not even close. Try $220.1 million each year. That’s $2.2 billion over the course of a decade.
A recent first-of-its-kind study, led by the Clean Lakes Alliance, gives a fresh look at the influence our lakes have—from tourism and real estate to quality of life.
MGE has been a longtime community partner with the Clean Lakes Alliance to improve water quality in the Yahara River Watershed. With the Yahara lakes attracting close to 3 million visitors a year—and the lakes being considered the “8th-largest employer in Dane County”—working collaboratively to protect our water quality is part of our mission to serve as your community energy company.
