Connecting with Students Through Community Energy Education

By MGE Customer Engagement and Community Resources Manager De'Kendrea Stamps

MGE is proud to partner with educators, students and families across our service area to spark curiosity, build energy literacy and support learning communities each school year. Our Schools Partnerships Team engages with students through resource fairs, career days and classroom visits to promote energy education and resources. A few highlights from the 2024-2025 school year follow.

  • MGE attended the Wisconsin Community Schools Annual Conference where we heard directly from educators and community leaders about their priorities and then worked to tailor our offerings to support their goals.
  • We brought MGE’s Pedal Power Bicycle to the Wingra School and Sherman Middle School to enhance their energy exploration curriculum.
  • Elementary-aged students engaged with MGE’s new Earth Day Every Day Fun Book.
  • Our Schools Partnerships Team attended Back-to-School and Science Night events to engage families in energy topics.
  • Students at Verona High School and Vel Phillips Memorial High School explored energy careers with us and engaged in conversations around energy efficiency, conservation and sustainability.

As you begin planning this year’s events for your school community, we invite you to connect with MGE’s Schools Partnerships Team at eduservices@mge.com. Whether you’re organizing a science night, planning a classroom unit or looking for career day speakers, we’re here to collaborate and provide the resources your school community needs to build a brighter energy future.
