Celebrate Earth Day & Arbor Day With MGE

Each spring, MGE's School Partnerships team joins students across our service area to celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day through hands-on learning and creative exploration. This year, we’re partnering with Aldo Leopold Elementary School, Shorewood Hills Elementary School and Badger Rock Middle School to help students discover how energy, conservation and sustainability shape the world around them.

We’ll explore students’ curiosity through activities that bring energy and environmental education to life by:

  • Generating electricity on our pedal-powered bike to harness their energy, offering a memorable lesson in how power is created.
  • Experimenting with sunlight and angles to see how solar energy is captured and optimized using solar tilt kits from KEEP.
  • Planting trees alongside our Arborist team, exploring tree biomechanics, and learning how trees grow, move and support healthy ecosystems.
  • Collaborating with local muralist, Paola Mayorga, on a colorful mural that reflects a commitment to caring for the land at the Badger Rock community garden.

These interactive experiences help students understand how energy is generated, transmitted, distributed and used at home, and how small, everyday actions can make a meaningful difference. By connecting science, creativity and environmental stewardship, we’re empowering young learners to become thoughtful energy stewards in their communities.
