KEEP – Wisconsin’s K-12 Energy Education Program

Samara Hamzé shows educators how to use one of KEEP’s Energy Kits.

We know that energy education can be a fast-moving field. As new ideas emerge and new technologies come online, it’s easy for educators to feel like they’re falling behind. That’s why Wisconsin's K-12 Energy Education Program (KEEP) is constantly evaluating our resources and approaches to energy education.

The KEEP team consists of passionate educators who understand the challenges teachers face in Wisconsin because we’ve all worked as educators in this state. KEEP has a variety of resources for teachers and students to learn about energy topics and careers, many of which are designed to easily integrate into your existing lesson plans and classroom technologies.

KEEP resources

Professional development – Hone your skills with in-person, virtual or in-service workshops related to energy issues facing Wisconsin students.

Lessons and activities – Enhance your curriculum with standards-based, interdisciplinary lessons that cover 59 energy-related concepts within five energy focus areas.

KEEP Energy Kits – Bring your classroom to life with hands-on resources that engage your students in place-based learning using your school as a living learning lab.

KEEP initiatives

Careers in clean energy – Careers in clean energy are among the fastest growing in the nation. Explore resources available to both educators and students to learn about and get trained for a spectrum of energy jobs and careers.

Energy Educator of the Year – KEEP is proud to highlight the outstanding network of educators across the state of Wisconsin empowering students, teachers and community members to make informed energy choices, now and for a sustainable future.
