Phone payments

Pay your bill over the phone by calling 608-252-7000 or 1-800-245-1125. Be sure to have your:

• MGE account number* 
• Credit, debit or bank account number
• Billing zip code
• Amount of payment

Postal mail payments

Send your payment and bill stub to:

Please allow several days for delivery and processing.

In-person payments:

Self-service kiosk

A self-service payment kiosk is located outside MGE's Madison office along Railroad Street. Credit cards, debit cards, personal checks and cash are accepted. You will need your MGE account number to make a payment.* English and Spanish language options are available.

Note: Assistance checks are not accepted at the kiosk. Please use the payment drop box next to the kiosk for third-party and assistance checks.

MGE's Madison office offers a payment drop box on-site. Payments will be credited the next business day. 

Retail locations 

Bring your cash, check, money order or cashier's check to a number of pay stations throughout Crawford, Dane and Vernon counties. You will need your MGE account number to make a payment.* Your payment will be recorded within two business days. If you have a past-due balance, please call MGE with your payment confirmation number at 608-252-7000 or 1-800-245-1125 to ensure prompt processing of your payment.

Please note: Effective February 2026, Metro Market and Pick 'n' Save locations are no longer accepting in-person payments. Please use another payment option or a different in-person retail location listed below.

We recommend contacting the location to ensure operating hours have not changed.

*Your 10-digit MGE account number can be found on your bill payment stub, in My Account or by calling us at 608-252-7000 or 1-800-245-1125 weekdays between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
