Quick Quiz: Should I run the furnace fan continuously?

I had a new furnace installed, and my contractor said I should run the furnace fan continuously. Will this help my heating bill? Is it the same for air-conditioning?

A standard furnace fan uses quite a bit of electricity, so operating it all the time can add $30 to $40 to your monthly bill.

Moving the air continuously in the winter may help even out the temperature in houses with poorly designed duct systems, but moving air also cools the skin, so in many cases it may decrease comfort.

Running the fan continuously in the summer removes less humidity and increases electricity use.
