MGE achieves Green Masters designation

It's official—MGE is a Green Master. The Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council officially announced the designation at its annual conference held in Milwaukee Dec. 3. MGE is one of 33 companies and the only utility in Wisconsin to be recognized as a Green Master.

The council is a network of more than 175 Wisconsin businesses interested in, or actively responding to, the challenge of sustainability. The Green Masters Program is an objective, points-based recognition program that enables Wisconsin companies to join like-minded companies that are committed to sustainability. It was developed in conjunction with the University of Wisconsin. It recognizes sustainability leaders and encourages continuous improvement.

The Sustainable Business Council works to create opportunities for businesses to learn from each other. By working together, the business climate is improved, and the success of Wisconsin businesses is increased.

The Green Masters Program evaluates actions that span nine primary areas of sustainable performance: energy, climate change, water, waste, transportation, supply chain, community outreach, workforce and governance. Based on this evaluation, companies are ranked in one of three categories. The top 20% receive the Green Master designation, the highest-ranking category. Other Green Master companies include Epic Systems, Trek Bicycle and Kohl's.
