Madison Gas and Electric (MGE), Wisconsin Clean Cities, Rosen Nissan of Madison and Zimbrick Eastside Nissan have announced the extension, through Oct. 31, of a special offer to save $8,231 on a new 2016 LEAF along with 0% financing for 72 months. This discount, coupled with available federal tax credits, allows drivers to save nearly 50% on a new, all-electric LEAF. There's also a lease option.

Nineteen Nissan LEAFs have been sold at Rosen Nissan of Madison and Zimbrick Eastside Nissan combined since the start of the promotion in August. That's well over the number of electric vehicles typically sold at both dealerships in a two-month period.

"The response to this discount has been great. We are excited to extend the discount for another month, raising the level of interest in EVs and making the all-electric Nissan LEAF available to a wider audience," said Scott Ericson, Nissan Sales Manager, Zimbrick Eastside Nissan.

"I think this discount on the all-electric Nissan LEAF has done a lot to increase customer awareness of EVs in general. Extending this discount another month is a great way to build on that awareness and continue to educate people about the many benefits of EVs," explained Steve Foresta, Owner and Executive Manager, Rosen Nissan of Madison.

For nearly a decade, MGE has encouraged alternatives to gasoline- and diesel-fueled vehicles. In addition to MGE's extensive network of public charging stations, MGE has been partnering with electric vehicle (EV) owners to learn how vehicle charging affects home electricity use. Soon, MGE will offer EV home charging systems through a pilot program. MGE also works with local employers, developers and property managers to assess their needs and implement charging initiatives within their facilities.

"We are excited at the response to the discount so far. The growth of EVs is beneficial to everyone," said Debbie Branson, New Market Manager at MGE. "Encouraging the use of EVs is important for the environment and is part of our commitment to support new technologies under our long-term Energy 2030 framework."
