"We're excited to team up with MGE and WCC to offer a substantial discount, making the Nissan LEAF available to a wider audience," said Scott Ericson at Zimbrick Eastside Nissan. "The 2016 models are 100% electric, emit zero tailpipe emissions and offer a range of up to 107 miles on a single charge."

The negotiated discount program has been successful in greatly increasing the number of EVs on the road in other parts of the country. "This program supports our mission to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and harmful emissions in our cities," said Lorrie Lisek, executive director of WCC.

For nearly a decade, MGE has encouraged alternatives to gasoline- and diesel-fueled vehicles. In addition to the extensive network of public charging stations offered by MGE, MGE has been partnering with EV owners to learn how vehicle charging affects home electricity use. Soon, MGE will offer EV home charging systems through a pilot program.

In addition, MGE works with local employers, developers and property managers to assess their needs and implement charging initiatives within their facilities. "Encouraging the use of EVs is important for our environment and is part of our commitment to support new technologies under our long-term Energy 2030 framework," said Debbie Branson, new market manager at MGE.
