Major Solar Projects Underway

MGE continues to grow its use of cleaner energy sources. Last spring, MGE received approval from state regulators to partner with Wisconsin Public Service to move ahead with plans for two major solar projects in Wisconsin. The two projects combined will bring 300 megawatts (MW) of emissions-free solar energy to the state. MGE will own 100 MW of the combined output at the two locations. 

The Badger Hollow Solar Farm will be located in Iowa County in southwestern Wisconsin. MGE will own 50 MW, with a proposal to purchase an additional 50 MW. 

The Two Creeks Solar project will be built in Manitowoc and Kewaunee counties in northeastern Wisconsin, near the Point Beach Nuclear Power Plant. MGE will own 50 MW. Both projects are expected to be online by early 2021. 
 

Focus on Energy® 2020 program changes 

Several changes to Focus on Energy offerings went into effect January 1. A summary of the incentive changes is available on the utility resources page of the Focus website. Highlights include:

• Prescriptive offerings for businesses, schools, government, and agricultural customers are listed in the 2020 catalogs now available. Catalogs include Lighting, HVAC/Plumbing, Commercial Refrigeration, Process Systems and Agribusiness. Please note there is no longer a commercial kitchen equipment incentive catalog as the measures will be incentivized through Focus' midstream offering. 
• Annual incentive caps are $400,000 per customer and $300,000 per project. 
• There is no separate multifamily offering. Multifamily building owners and developers are eligible for business incentives. Residents/owners of individual units in a multifamily dwelling are eligible for the residential incentives. 
• All business new construction projects have a single path of entry for Focus participation.
