vase-shaped to rounded form with upright and arching branches; 20-30’ tall and wide; fuzzy, silvery new leaves in spring turn olive-green and smooth in late spring; coppery-green to bronzish-brown, slightly exfoliating bark; off-white flowers in summer that smell like fresh cut grass; no fall color; slow grower; full sun; adaptable to most soils and pH; tolerant to poor soils; moist, well-drained soil; urban tolerant; prone to developing narrow branch crotch angles and included bark subject to breakage in storms; native to China; hardy to zone 4a
