Median rent increases in Madison smaller than national average tracks rents for listings on its site for 100 large U.S. cities. Among those, the average year-over-year price change in Madison was 3.4% for one-bedroom apartments and 2.5% for two-bedrooms.

Madison rents for available apartments was up slightly, but below the national average. The median monthly rent for available one-bedroom apartments was $790 this spring, up 0.6% from 12 months earlier, according to rental site

For two-bedroom apartments, the median was $1,050, up 1.1% over April 2014.

Among the 100 cities listed, Madison had the 39th-highest median price for a one-bedroom apartment in April and was tied for 30th in the two-bedroom market.
