2017 Earth Day Activity Book and Video Contest

Elementary and Middle School Teachers in the MGE service area can preorder class sets of the 20-plus page Earth Day Every Day Classroom Funbook by going to our order form. The free books will be available in early April 2017 so you can use them with your classroom Earth Day activities. The book features more than 20 pages of accurate and up-to-date information on a variety of environmental topics including local student involvement, energy, wildlife conservation, recycling, renewable energy, energy conservation, water conservation, gardening and local efforts to increase awareness of environmental issues.

Last year, MGE distributed over 6,000 copies to area teachers and more than 2,000 copies to Nature Net partner organizations in the MGE service area. In addition to the classroom book, MGE is also sponsoring an Earth Day Every Day Video Contest, with two $500 first-place winners (one for elementary level and one for middle school level) and two runners-up also will be awarded $50 prizes for elementary and middle school levels. So get your students thinking and brainstorming video themes related to Earth Day—energy conservation in your school, recycling/repurposing and upcycling household goods, water conservation, climate change, school gardens, electric vehicles and renewable energy.

Watch for more information about the actual delivery for funbooks to your school, final video contest rules/deadlines and more.
