'Hazard Hamlet' and electric safety in your classroom

This school year, take the fear out of electricity with "Switch to Safety", MGE's electric safety education classroom program for fourth-grade students. The centerpiece of the presentation is "Hazard Hamlet", a tabletop simulator that demonstrates many unsafe outdoor scenes involving high-voltage electricity. Kathy Laubmeier, MGE electric safety consultant and educator, will teach your students how to safely respond to electric safety emergencies involving downed power lines, effects of electricity on the human body, avoiding underground and overhead power lines, and the dangers of electricity and standing water. Other electricity topics and concepts covered include circuits, switches, insulators, conductors, pathway of least resistance and pathway to ground.
