Power Outage Information
June 12, 2026 - 5:20 p.m.
MGE expects most of the remaining customers to be restored within a couple of hours.
As of 5:20 p.m., about 40 customers remain impacted by this week's storm-related power outages. Estimated times of restoration have resumed on MGE’s outage map. We expect most of the customers who remain without power to be restored within a couple of hours. Some customers will remain impacted until late this evening given the complexity of the repairs at that incident location.
More than 17,500 customers were without power after back-to-back days of severe weather. We thank our customers for their patience and understanding throughout this extensive restoration process.
Important information for customers with damage to electric lines on their property
If you have damage to the electric lines coming into your home, please visit this page, which includes a graphic showing which equipment MGE owns and which equipment you own. Customers with damage to their equipment will need to have an electrician make repairs first, then contact us to have our personnel return to restore service. You can also visit our storm and outage FAQ page.
Outage reporting and notifications during this event
During this event, some customers also may have received text messages with incorrect information about their outage. We apologize for the inconvenience and understand the frustration some customers experienced. We’ve been actively working to address the issues that impacted some customers who visited our outage map for information and who tried to use our online form to report an outage.
Customers who still need to report an outage may contact our local customer center by calling 608-252-7000 or 1-800-245-1125.
Downed lines
Public safety is our first priority. We remind everyone to stay clear of damaged areas and never approach a downed power line or anything that comes in contact with it. Always assume a power line is energized and extremely dangerous and stay away. If you see a downed line, please notify MGE immediately by calling 608-252-7000. Visit our outage safety page to learn more.
Service restoration
All outage restoration follows a five-step process. In small incidents, these steps are often done by a single crew and can be accomplished very quickly. In major outages, however, several parts of the company become involved. Learn more about our process.
Sometimes you may notice an MGE vehicle or employee/crew in your neighborhood for a while without your service being restored. Here are some of the reasons:
- They are doing damage assessment and reporting the situation back to our dispatch center. They may even leave your neighborhood before service is restored.
- They are monitoring a downed line until a crew can come and make the situation safe.
- They are waiting for the electrical system to be switched so they can work on it.
- They are waiting for additional equipment or materials to complete the job.
If you smell gas or are experiencing a natural gas outage, evacuate the area immediately and call 911 or MGE at 608-252-7000 from a safe distance.
