Let's make a difference…working together

We all need energy to meet our living, growing needs. Yet we are all called to use it responsibly.

Together, we can be effective stewards, helping make each day an "Earth Day":

• Choosing energy-efficient products and appliances and being diligent to avoid wasting the energy we use.

• Using electricity, natural gas and appliances safely to protect ourselves and others. Doing so helps ensure reliable delivery of energy to all of our customers.

By working together—businesses and individuals—our best practices today can help power our energy tomorrow.

Energy saved is the cleanest energy of all. Little things, practiced by each of us, can go a long way. Conserve. Recycle. Learn new ways to help the environment and save energy.

Follow the five fundamentals of efficiency
1. Control your thermostat, preferably a programmable unit.
2. Switch to compact fluorescents—at least your five most-used lightbulbs.
3. Use cold water to wash your laundry.
4. Turn off the juice when not in use—don't leave lights, TVs, stereos and computers running when not in use.
5. Look for the ENERGY STAR® label when you buy appliances.

Check out energy resources at your local library. This includes MGE portable energy meters. They can help you find the big energy users around your home.

Join an Adopt-a-Highway or Environmental Action (EnAct) team in your community (see enactwi.org).
