MGE to make natural gas its primary fuel at Blount Station

Some important points to consider

MGE has modified its Energy 2015 plan regarding Blount Station in downtown Madison.

As of March 12, natural gas will be the primary fuel at Blount and coal will become a secondary fuel for generating electricity for customers.

Our Energy 2015 initiative, announced four years ago, calls for discontinuing the use of coal by the end of 2011.  Shifting to a natural gas priority at Blount now will help advance the transition to natural gas-only for the plant by the end of next year.

Blount operations and our Energy 2015 plan will continue to be reviewed as new economic and regulatory changes occur.
