CFL bulbs come with energy savings, $2 rebate

If you've put off changing all your old incandescent bulbs to compact fluorescent lights (CFLs), now is the time. CFLs have dropped in price (these days, you can find them for $2 per bulb or less) and Focus on Energy will give you $2 back for every CFL you buy (up to 12). And, there's a bulb available now for every use from three-way to dimmable, to floodlight and candelabra. If you purchase an ENERGY STAR® fixture and/or ceiling fan, you'll get $15 back.

You'll not only save on the bulbs and fixtures but you'll save on your electric bill. If you replace five 60-watt incandescent bulbs with five 18-watt CFLs, you'll save $38 in electricity and 307 kilowatt-hours. CFLs are four times as efficient and last 10 times longer than incandescent. One MGE customer changed all the bulbs in her apartment (18) to CFLs, and her electric bill dropped by a third.
