Wind speed studies determine the best locations for wind farms in Wisconsin. MGE's wind farm is on the Niagara Escarpment, a geological formation beginning near Fond du Lac and extending north along the Door Peninsula.

Wisconsin does not have the sustained wind speeds of the plains states, but newer low-speed, high-capacity turbines will perform well here.
