Dane County Tree Board
MGE was a major force in establishing the Dane County Tree Board and continues to be a significant member. The Dane County Tree Board is committed to bringing information to the citizens of Dane County about one of our most treasured resources: trees. More management and public education are needed to ensure their future health.

Focus on Energy
Focus on Energy is a public-private partnership offering energy information and services to energy utility customers throughout Wisconsin. The goals are to:

• Encourage energy efficiency and use of renewable energy.
• Enhance the environment.
• Ensure the future supply of energy for Wisconsin.

Green Built Home

Wisconsin Environmental Initiative
MGE is a Green Built Industry Leader with the Wisconsin Environmental Initiative (WEI). A goal of this partnership is to advocate participation in the Green Built Home program. MGE will promote green building in print ads and on our Web site. MGE provides printing services for the Green Built Home Buyer’s Guides and Green Built Program Checklist. WEI administers the Green Built Home program in Wisconsin.

La Follette Green Built Home Project
MGE's partnership with La Follette High School established an annual program. Building trades teachers and students build a Green Built Home in the community. Proceeds from the first home were used for Madison Area Trade School building trades scholarships. Subsequent houses have been funded by the school district, with MGE support for energy-saving appliances, insulation and equipment.

Solar Partnerships
MGE is working with area communities and businesses to raise the visibility of solar energy and provide data about its suitability in our area.

MGE formed an educational partnership with area school districts. The MGE Foundation funded the purchase, installation and maintenance of solar photovoltaic systems at 10 high schools in MGE’s electric service area. MGE also covers costs to create educational materials, train teachers and publish solar energy information on MGE’s Web site.

Sustain Dane partnership
MGE has provided funding to buy a collection of sustainable resource materials for area libraries in collaboration with Sustain Dane. In addition, MGE provides complimentary printing service for the Madison Green Pages, a directory of sustainability and environmental organizations in the Madison and Dane County area of Wisconsin.
