MGE financing helps company improve productivity Jenkins Research & Manufacturing Corp. needed to invest in state-of-the-art machinery at its Fitchburg plant to help meet the specialized needs of its customers. MGE, the city of Fitchburg and the Wisconsin Department of Commerce stepped in to help Jenkins identify needs and obtain financing. The entire upgrade qualified for an MGE Shared Savings loan. "MGE offered us a competitive and creative financing package, making possible the purchase of advanced technology equipment. This enabled us to meet the rapidly evolving demands of the medical and biotechnology industries," said Jeff Jenkins, President of Jenkins Research & Manufacturing Corp. The investment allowed Jenkins to significantly improve productivity. The company reduced production time from 48 hours to 16 hours on a key product for one of its largest customers. Jenkins also created eight specialized machinist jobs. Fast action helps local firm grow in Madison MGE worked with Madison's Rapid Response team to convince Schoep's Ice Cream to stay and grow in Madison, where it was founded in 1928. Schoep's invested up to $8 million in new refrigeration facilities on the city's northeast side. This 10-acre site provides ample room for growth. "The City of Madison and MGE played an important role in our decision," said Schoep's President Paul Thomsen. "The City took action to ensure this project could be completed in a timely manner. MGE provided financial assistance to improve energy efficiency and identified rate options that increase our competitiveness." |
