MGE offers online billing and payment through MyCheckFree.

  • Stops your paper MGE bills automatically
    • Once you register, you will no longer receive a paper bill from MGE
  • Allows you to pay online
    • Requires social security number for online payment
    • Credit card payments not available

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does MGE offer any other online payment options?

A: You can enroll in Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) which will automatically pay your MGE bill from your bank account on the date your payment is due.

Q: Can MGE stop sending me a paper bill any other way?

A: Not for residential customers. MGE business/commercial customers who are enrolled in Summary Billing will receive an email notice to access their summary bills online.

Q: Why am I not receiving paper bills?

A: If you have started the registration process for CheckFree you will no longer receive paper bills, even if you did not sign up for bill payment. You will receive an email when your bill is available to view and/or pay online.

Q: Can I pay with my credit card using CheckFree?

A: Currently CheckFree only allows MGE customers to pay using your checking account.

Q: CheckFree is asking me to verify my information to pay my MGE bill. Do I need to do this to pay?

A: Yes, CheckFree needs more information before you can pay your bill. You must proceed with CheckFree's verification process or make other payment arrangements to pay your bill.

Q: I moved and I am not receiving my bills via email anymore.

A: When you move, MGE creates a new account for you with a new number. You must log into CheckFree, click on "Add an E-Bill" and then add your new MGE account number to pay and start receiving e-bills for your new MGE account.

Q: I changed banks. How do I change my banking information on CheckFree?

A: Once signed into CheckFree, click "MyCheckFree Profile," then click "My Payment Accounts" to edit your banking information.
