Life-Sustaining Equipment

For most of us, electricity is a wonderful convenience. For others, electricity means the difference between life and death. If you or someone in your family requires electrical life support equipment, MGE wants to know.

Please:

  1. Print out MGE’s Medical Condition Certification form. [PDF - 55 KB]
  2. Complete the form.
  3. It must be certified by a medical, social service and/or law enforcement provider.
  4. Mail or fax to:
    MGE Customer Service
    Post Office Box 1231
    Madison, WI 53701-1231
    Fax: (608) 252-4714

MGE will:

  • Note on your account that you have a medical need for electrical service.
  • Keep a record of it.
  • Send you information from the Red Cross about preparing for outages and emergencies.
  • Tag your meter.
  • Mark our maps.
  • Attempt to contact you when work that could affect your electricity is planned so you can be prepared.

If the power goes out, call our emergency number (608) 252-7111. We'll do our best to restore power as soon as possible. How fast we can fix it depends on the outage cause and repairs needed.

We're proud of our excellent record of reliable electric service and work hard to keep it. Remember, storm-related outages and other emergencies do happen. We encourage you to have a backup plan.
