Regular maintenance is key

Regular maintenance is critical for a reliable electric system. Crews are gearing up for $1.3 million of cable replacement projects this year. More than 85,000 feet of cable will be replaced. Work began in April in several areas including International Lane, home to large commercial customers in Madison.
MGE has about 65% more cable replacement work on the schedule this year compared to 2007. Today's technology allows crews to drill and tunnel under most streets and landscaped areas causing less disturbance for customers.
