MGE earns Green Power Program of the Year Award
MGE's "Green Power Tomorrow" is the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Green Power Program of the Year. MGE was recognized for expanding its wind power program by eight times, significantly reducing the price premium and growing the number of participants who purchase the equivalent of 100% of their energy use in green power. About 70% of MGE green power customers participate at this level.
"Ten percent of our electric customers purchase some or all of their electricity from renewable resources," said Laura Williams, market development manager - Energy Products and Services.
