MGE Files Electric Fuel Surcharge
Madison, Wis., March 14, 2007—Madison Gas and Electric (MGE) today filed with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin a 3.9% electric fuel surcharge. The increase is due to higher-than-expected regional electricity prices.
Pending regulatory approval, the average residential electric bill would increase $2.30 a month.
MGE generates and distributes electricity to nearly 135,000 customers in Dane County, Wisconsin, and purchases and distributes natural gas to more than 138,000 customers in seven south-central and western Wisconsin counties. MGE has served the Madison area for more than 150 years.
