Madison, Wis., Dec. 8, 2006—Madison Gas and Electric (MGE) today filed with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) a $7 million fuel cost credit that will appear on customers' bills beginning Dec. 11, 2006. The average residential customer using 600 kilowatt-hours per month will see a one-time credit of $15.50 on their bill. The refund is due to lower-than-expected fuel costs to generate electricity during March through October 2006. Coupled with a fuel credit authorized by the PSCW on March 9, 2006, MGE will return about $17 million to customers due to declining prices for fuels used in the production of electricity. MGE generates and distributes electricity to nearly 136,000 customers in Dane County and purchases and distributes natural gas to more than 137,000 customers in seven south-central and western Wisconsin counties. MGE has served the Madison area since 1896. |
