Community

We are involved in our communities and take responsibility to help make life better for all of us who live and work here.

Leadership

  • MGE employees are members of every Chamber of Commerce in our service area, often filling leadership roles as directors and executives on their boards.
  • We participate in Madison planning councils, assist with funding, printing and serve on committees.
  • MGE President Gary Wolter chaired the capital campaign that turned the Genesis Enterprise Center from a vision into a reality.

Development

  • MGE's Neighborhood Revitalization Grant Program has helped the Broadway-Simpson neighborhood, the Allied-Dunns Marsh neighborhood and the Heistand neighborhood. Our grants help build energy efficiency into affordable housing, so low-income residents can live more comfortably and afford to pay their energy bills.
  • A significant MGE grant helped develop the "Great Neighborhoods" design handbook and Web site by Dane County and the 1000 Friends of Wisconsin.
  • MGE supports business development through developing and supporting business incubators.

Support
We are involved in many community and neighborhood centers. Here is a sampling:

  • At the Bridge Lake Point Neighborhood Center, we sponsored an AmeriCorp worker to work with youth.
  • A long-standing member of the Greater Williamson Area Business Association, we help with database, mailings and their Web site.
  • Recent projects with the north/east-side Senior Coalition, the Kennedy Heights Neighborhood, the Bridge Lake Point Neighborhood Center, the Carpenter-Ridgeway Neighborhood and others help bring energy-efficiency measures and more affordable energy bills to the residents.

Care
MGE cares about the communities it serves. Here's a sampling of how MGE and its employees do our part to help improve the quality of life for those of us who live here.

  • American Red Cross. MGE helps by hosting three blood drives for employees and retirees annually.
  • United Way of Dane County. MGE consistently ranks in the top ten of total giving, provides loaned executive and our employees serve on committees.
  • March of Dimes. For more than 20 years, MGE has had a team of walkers in the Annual WalkAmerica event. The MGE Foundation provides an additional donation.
