Energy use webtool launched for MGE residential customers

A new tool just launched on our website can help you compare energy use. These comparisons are good indicators that can help you make energy-saving decisions for your home.

Just go to mge.com/compare and log in to your account to use this webtool. With it you can make four different energy comparisons:

• This year to last year. Bar charts show your electric and gas use this year compared to last year.
• Other Madison homes. Line graphs display your energy use over the past 12 months compared to the average energy use of single-family homes in Madison.
  • You'll also get a summary statement that may read something like this: "You used 16% less electricity than the average Madison home and spent $77 less."
• Same-size homes. Bar charts highlight how your monthly electric use and natural gas heating efficiency compare to the average of other Madison homes that are similar in size.
• Same-aged homes. If you provide the age of your home, a chart will show natural gas heating efficiency from same-aged homes.
