wide-spreading, rounded form with horizontal branches; 20-30’ tall; 25-30’ wide; a few, sharp thorns on branches; white flowers in mid spring; non-persistent, scarlet fruit in summer; fuzzy, larger leaves; no fall color; full sun; adaptable to most soils and pH; plant in spring only; drought tolerant; sensitive to road salt; very susceptible to cedar apple rust which defoliates the tree; native to Wisconsin; hardy to zone 3a
