The WMC Foundation is a nonprofit organization that sponsors and conducts programs to enhance public education and update workforce skills. The Foundation's building in downtown Madison is home to Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC). WMC is a business association with nearly 4,000 members including manufacturers, service firms, local chambers of commerce and specialized trade associations. Several other businesses also lease space in the WMC Foundation building. The WMC Foundation is environmentally conscious. This is evident by the organization's participation in MGE's Green Power Tomorrow program. "Purchasing clean energy is an easy way an organization like ours can actively participate in important energy-saving initiatives," said Mike Shoys, vice president. "We are proud to be a partner in this effort." "We take a hands-on approach and promote other energy initiatives through our legislative agenda," Shoys said. "Additionally, WMC cosponsors the annual Environmental Policy and Awards Conference and recognizes companies for going beyond regulatory compliance with the Wisconsin Business Friend of the Environment Award." The Foundation follows a specific recycling program and purchases recycled office supplies when possible. "Every little bit helps," Shoys said. "We want to do our part to protect the environment—from making wise choices in our daily activities to encouraging others to be part of the solution."
