Bashford United Methodist Church provides Christian worship, education and fellowship to members of varying ages from Madison and surrounding communities. Nine employees work at the church, which is located on Madison's east side. "We participate in Green Power Tomorrow simply because it is part of our stewardship—our faith perspective," Pastor Francis Deaner said. "This is a cost-effective opportunity for us to protect our environment." Bashford implements other energy-saving strategies too. "We worked with MGE to do an energy audit," Deaner said. "As a result, we switched to energy-efficient lighting and programmable thermostats—two additional ways we are controlling our energy use and being kinder to the environment."
