Business Parks and Incubators

Madison and Dane County consistently rank in the top 20 metropolitan areas overall and have one of the strongest high-tech sectors in the nation. High technology is one reason for the consistent growth and development of the region's 80 commercial business parks.

MGE plays a key role in developing and supporting area business incubators, which have a track record of helping start-up, fast-growing firms succeed in the Greater Madison region.

Incubators help entrepreneurs develop homegrown businesses that add stability to the local economy. Incubators typically offer below-market lease rates plus shared equipment, on-site clerical and management assistance, and easy access to other business services.

Madison and Dane County are home to 10 business incubators, with nine in Madison. These facilities house more than 125 tenants who occupy 290,000 square feet of office, lab and light manufacturing space out of a total of 310,000 square feet.

The park is an urban incubator that aims to nurture student entrepreneurs and young companies in the fields of information technology, engineering, medical devices and compute sciences.
  • T.E.C. Corridor's Incubator Center, adjacent to MATC (Madison College), can house up to 20 small companies in approximately 33,000 square feet during their start-up phase. The on-site MGE Center for Entrepreneurs provides business development assistance for tenants and area firms.
  • Sector67 is a 4,000 square foot plus (includes two full garage bays) techshop / hackerspace / makerspace collaborative environment. It provides members/tenants the opportunity to work on tomorrow's technology; to build, collaborate and learn and teach about next generation devices.
