Business customers with multiple MGE accounts can take advantage of a streamlined approach to bill paying. Summary Billing combines multiple bills into one monthly bill with one amount due on one due date. MGE rolled out Summary Billing in 2009.
"Generating and mailing multiple paper bills for the same customer each month creates a lot of work," said Mary Wegner, MGE senior billing systems analyst - Customer Billing. "It makes sense to consolidate bills on one statement that is available online 24/7."
A good fit for Summary Billing is the City of Madison, which has more than 700 MGE accounts. In the past, each of those accounts was billed individually. This required extra paper, postage and manual handling. With Summary Billing, the City receives only three monthly bills. They have online access to the detail that was previously printed on individual bills.
